If I Could Only Use One Skincare Product for the Rest of Time, This Would Be It

Because of my job, I’ve tested hundreds of skincare products over the years, and most of those products tend to be moisturisers. One visit to your local Boots and you’ll know that there are so many different moisturisers on offer. I’ll be the first to admit that although I’ve tried plenty that I’ve liked, I haven’t tried many that I’ve absolutely loved. That was until I came across Tatcha.

I’ve seen a lot of hype around this brand over the years, but I’d never given it a go until a year or so ago when a few products landed on my desk. One of those products was called The Water Cream. As someone with both dry and oily skin (also known as combination skin), this product immediately caught my eye. A lightweight cream that is still super hydrating? Sign me up. Since trying it a year ago, I don’t think I’ve gone a single day without using it in my skincare routine. In fact, I would say it’s one of the best skincare products I have ever tried. Intrigued? I thought so. Keep on scrolling for my full review…

Tatcha The Water Cream Review

The Formula

Let’s talk about the formula first. Like all Tatcha products, this cream contains lots of skin-loving ingredients. It features wild rose to help control excess oil, leopard lily to calm your complexion and a trinity of fermented Japanese superfoods for added radiance. Oh, and I can’t forget a touch of 23-karat gold for even more glow. It’s perfect for any of you who have an oiler complexion but don’t want to compromise on hydration.

The Texture

Now, onto the texture (possibly my favourite thing about this product). The “water-burst” cream breaks upon application which means that it hydrates the skin without leaving you with that unwanted greasy feeling. I would personally describe it as more of a gel than a cream, and the refreshing formula is perfect for awakening your complexion in the morning. It is super lightweight but a little goes a long way, meaning one pot of this will last you ages.

The Verdict

As mentioned above, I have been using this moisturiser for around a year now, and the results have been nothing short of amazing. I used to use heavy moisturisers to help combat dry patches, but because of this my skin was left feeling greasy and congested. However, since switching to this Tatcha product, my congestion has started to clear, my complexion isn’t as oily throughout the day and my skin feels hydrated and plump.

It wouldn’t be right to do a review and not mention the packaging. I love how pretty this moisturiser looks, and it comes with a handy gold spoon which you can use to apply the product onto your skin. That being said, it can be a little hard to travel with, so I tend to decant the product into a smaller tub or tube when going on holiday (you can also buy a travel-sized version for £24).

Junior beauty editor, Grace Lindsay, loves mixing her Tatcha moisturiser with bronzing drops underneath her makeup for a glowy base.

Another thing to mention is the price. This moisturiser definitely doesn’t come cheap and will set you back £67 for a 50ml tub. That being said, because you only have to use a small amount, this tub will last you ages making it a much smarter investment.

If you have really dry skin, then a richer cream might be better, but if you have combination skin like myself, then I could not recommend this moisturiser enough. Tatcha, what would I do without you…
