This title sounds pretty dramatic-but I take skincare VERY seriously!
I have been using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum for nearly a year now, so was intrigued when I was given a sample sachet of one of It’s competitors. For the past few weeks I’ve been testing out the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate serum, and I thought I’d share my thoughts on how they compare.

So both of these serums more or less claim to do the same thing- rejuvenate and repair your skin overnight. So let me start by telling you how ANR (I do love a good abbreviation) has changed my skin.
After applying my toner (Pixi Glow Tonic) and prior to moisturising (Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion), I apply this miracle worker. It comes with a pipette, so I just take a tiny drop and pat it all over my face using my fingers. Not too sticky or fragranced, and just enough to instantly hydrate your skin. Although the real magic happens in the morning! My skin always feels hydrated and calm after using ANR, and it completely smoothes out my complexion. Despite the hefty price tag (one for Christmas wish lists only), I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Now you see what Kiehl’s has to compete with! (I’ll give you 3 guesses for which one wins).
I used the same skincare routine while testing out both serums, and simply switched out the ANR for the MRC- my BTEC science must’ve taught me something about fair experiments! My immediate reaction was that the MRC was incredibly watery! As I had no pipette, I had to cup my hands and quickly splat it on my face before it spilled everywhere- this was pretty unsuccessful anyway. I was put off by the strong fragrance, and my skin was left feeling very greasy.
The next day, I did notice a difference in my skin- but I was still a big greaseball! I kept going with it and waited to see if I grew to love it more, but the inconvenience just made it a hassle to apply. I found myself having to really wash the oils off in the morning.
I’m glad I tested out another serum, and I hope I can try some others too, but unfortunately this one just didn’t come close to my trusty ADR I’m afraid. (A pretty disappointing review if you ask me!)
