Biography
Professor Jing Wu is a Professor in the Department of Decisions, Operations, and Technology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. He is the Director of the Master of Science Programme in Business Analytics, the Director of Centre of Cyber Logistics, and the Associate Director of the Asian Institute of Supply Chains & Logistics. His academic credentials include a PhD in operations management (with a minor in economics and finance) and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University.
Professor Wu’s research focuses on global supply chain management, the operations-finance interface, sustainable operations, and business intelligence. He employs empirical methodologies, including applied econometrics, machine learning, and unstructured data techniques, to conduct his research. His papers have been published in leading academic journals such as Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Information Systems Research. His insights have also been featured in prominent business publications (MIT Sloan Management Review, The Economist, Forbes, etc.) and widely reported by over 400 media outlets across more than 20 countries. He is also the author of influential monographs, including Global Trends in Manufacturing Supply Chains, published by Springer, and 全球供应链超级趋势, published by CITIC.
In addition to his research, Professor Wu has contributed actively to academic leadership. He serves as an Associate Editor for Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and a Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management. He has also been actively involved in organizing leading international academic conferences, such as INFORMS and POMS meetings. He is the founding chairman of the Workshop on Empirical Operations Management (WEOM), a research platform dedicated to supporting empirical OM researchers in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Prior to his academic career, Professor Wu gained valuable industry experience as a quantitative strategist at Deutsche Bank in New York and as a business analyst at McKinsey in Shanghai.
