Hello, everyone! Today’s post is a review of the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation. I’ve been wanting to try this foundation for a while, so when Shoppers Drug Mart had a points redemption event back in June, I redeemed my Optimum points for this product. I only paid $6 for this luxury foundation, which is such a steal! Now that I’ve been using it for three months, I have a pretty solid opinion of it, and am ready to share my thoughts! Read on to see if I think this foundation is worth the price tag!
THE BASICS
A bestselling foundation that reduces the look of fatigue and creates flawless coverage. The Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation is enriched with stimulating ruscus extract, an anti-fatigue formula that energizes skin by stimulating micro-circulation and targeting dullness to instantly improve the look your skin’s brightness and luminosity, while the vitamin E protects against free radicals. It leaves a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look.
The YSL Touche Eclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation is a foundation that is supposed to provide flawless coverage with weightless radiance. With translucent pigments, the formula is supposed to feel and look invisible on the skin, while diminishing shadows and creating a luminous complexion. It is made in France, and retails at $74 CAD for 30 mL. You can purchase it at Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, Hudson’s Bay, and the YSL website.
THE PACKAGING
The Le Teint foundation is housed in a round glass pump bottle with a gold cap. The packaging is heavy and feels so luxurious! The pump is really sturdy, BUT I find it hard to control sometimes. I usually get exactly the right amount of foundation I want with the first pump (I only press halfway down and that is enough to cover my whole face), but if I ever just want to go back and get a teensy bit more foundation to cover up an area a little better, I always end up pumping too much out. When a product is this expensive, I don’t want to waste any of it!
THE PERFORMANCE
As a reference, I have a dry skin type. My issues are dry, flakey spots that can cling to foundation, as well as minor hyperpigmentation and skin texture. My ideal foundation is one that doesn’t look cakey and makes my dry skin look dewy, has enough coverage to cover my hyperpigmentation to a reasonable degree, and doesn’t accentuate my dry skin or skin texture. I own the shade B40 Sand in this range, which is a perfect match for me.
The Le Teint foundation has a thicker, more creamy consistency. Even with the thicker formulation, it’s still very easy to spread out, and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all. I would say this has light to medium coverage, depending on how you apply it (more on this later).
My favourite way of applying this is with…my hands. I know, I know, it sounds disgusting, but I always make sure I have clean hands before touching my face. For some reason, I have honestly never taken to using brushes for foundation; before sponges became popular, I always went in with my fingers. Since sponges have become a thing in the beauty industry, that has been my preferred method of applying foundation. With the Le Teint foundation, I found that the sponge soaks this foundation right up, leaving my face with very, very light coverage. This is why I prefer to use my hands for the Le Teint foundation, although I do like dabbing a sponge all over my face once I have applied it with my fingers, just to make sure that everything is blended well and not too thick. Applying it with my fingers gives me medium coverage, which is able to cover up 80% of my hyperpigmentation even without concealer.
Even with the high coverage, this foundation isn’t thick or cakey at all, and leaves my skin with a subdued dewy finish. Sometimes, foundations can look almost TOO glowy, almost making my dry skin look greasy, but this was just subtly glowy. One thing to note is that I usually wear a luminous primer underneath my foundations, but I don’t with this one. I tried it once with the Becca Backlight Priming Filter (my go-to primer) underneath, and it was just too much dew, even for a glow-chaser like me! Using it on its own is absolutely perfect, and the lack of primer did not affect the wear time, at least on my dry skin. I do wonder how this would wear on oily skin types, though – I think it might be a little too dewy for them, but perhaps a mattifying primer would help with that. What I love about this foundation is that it makes my skin look like skin, just more even in tone. It wears well all day, and fades pretty evenly without leaving behind unsightly patches. After a full day of wear, I never find that this looks cakey on me like some foundations do.
Similar to many products from luxury brand, this foundation does have a fragrance. I can detect a subtle floral scent while applying the foundation, but it disappears almost right away. I don’t react negatively to scents, but people whose skin is sensitive to fragrance will probably not like this.
THE SUMMARY
Pros:

- Feels nice and lightweight on the skin

Cons:

- Scented
- Pump is a little hard to control
