Hey y’all! Setting spray is a very important part of my makeup routine. It is the final piece to the puzzle, it can change the final look, and it can affect how long my makeup lasts throughout the day and how well it does so. There are a lot of setting sprays on the market, but the two that I have heard the most buzz about are the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and the Mac Prep and Prime Fix+. Beauty gurus around the world use these two products. I personally have been a fan of All Nighter for a while now, but I had heard so much about Fix+ that I wanted to see which one was better for me. After having used both and tested them out, I have my opinion pretty much set. (haha get it…) So that’s what this post is going to be all about! They are pretty different, but like I said, they are both so popular that I wanted to see if one was better than the other, if they were similar or different, and all of that good stuff. Enjoy!
First I’ll start with my thoughts on All Nighter. This comes in a 3.4 oz bottle for $33, or a 1oz bottle for $15. This is pricey, but the bottle will last you a pretty long time. I have gone through probably 5 or 6 bottles in my makeup wearing lifetime, and it has become somewhat of a holy grail for me. Online, it is described as a “weightless spray gives your makeup serious staying power. Developed in an exclusive partnership with SKINDINÄVIA, this groundbreaking, clinically tested formula is suitable for all skin types and features patented Temperature Control Technology. It actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush, and concealer in place—even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or night) without melting, cracking, fading, or settling into fine lines.”
Some of these claims sound a bit dramatic, but I agree with them for the most part. This definitely makes my makeup last all day and smooths everything out. It melts the products together well, doesn’t have any harsh scent or ingredients, and like I said it extends the wear time for your makeup. I have a very high opinion of it overall, and no complaints. (picture below is the 1oz bottle)

Moving on to Fix+, I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago, and have been slowly going through the bottle to test it out. It comes with 3.4 oz of product for $27, or $14 for the 1oz mini. It has a different spray nozzle from the more traditional kind like All Nighter has, and I think the packaging is good but not great. I really like the product in general though. The website says it’s “A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin. Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup. This holy grail of hydrating mists can be used with other products in near-endless ways – to improve the wear of makeup, or moisturize and soothe tired skin”.
I agree with a lot of this. Fix+ is super hydrating on the skin, and it just feels really nice lol. It smells good, it feels good, and it melts all of your makeup together very well. I don’t think this makes your makeup last longer, but granted that isn’t a huge part of the claim. One of my favorite parts of Fix+ is that it makes your highlighter pop so well! I don’t know how they do it, because it’s not a dewy spray technically, but it really works well for highlighters. (picture below is the 3.4oz bottle)

My direct comparison would be this: Fix+ is more for hydrating and All Nighter is more for long-wear. They both are good products at similar prices, but I think it depends on what matters more to you. If you can get both, do that! But if you want to choose one or the other, it depends on your preferences. Pick up All Nighter if you need your makeup to last all day long, but pick up Fix+ if you want a refreshing mist that may not help with the lasting power.
So there you have it! Those are my overall thoughts on Mac Fix+ and Urban Decay All Nighter. Like I said, they’re both great and have different priorities. Let me know which one you prefer in the comments below! And also let me know if there are any other popular products that you want me to compare! Thanks for stopping by to read this post 🙂
