Connected to 走 (OC *ʔsoːʔ, *ʔsoːs, “to run”) by Schuessler (2007), though the Baxter-Sagart reconstruction of the Old pronunciations makes a connection less likely. Note, however, similarities to Burmese ဆော့ (hcau., “to play, fiddle with”).
